With economic globalization and the increasing demand for resources driven by economic growth in developing countries, it is becoming even more important for companies to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) in their global supply chains.
To fulfill this responsibility, Oji Paper Co., Ltd., has formulated the Oji Paper Group Partnership Procurement Policy (attached), effective April 1, 2007. The policy is designed to ensure that CSR procurement is implemented when sourcing all raw materials used by the Oji Paper Group, and it calls for cooperation from suppliers and other business partners. Under the policy, the Group will ensure that procurement of raw materials is in compliance with laws, while embarking on initiatives to verify the environmental and social impact of all procurement practices.
With regard to wood raw material, the Oji Paper Group first established a Wood Raw Material Procurement Policy in April 2005. This policy clarified the Group’s commitment to procuring wood raw materials based on resources that are grown through sustainable forest management.
Accompanying the introduction of the Oji Paper Group Partnership Procurement Policy, the Group has also revised that Wood Raw Material Procurement Policy, renaming it the "Wood Raw Material Procurement Guidelines" (attached) and positioning it under the broader Partnership Procurement Policy. The revised guidelines strengthen the Group's capacity to verify that the wood raw materials it procures come from resources that are grown through sustainable forest management. Appropriate management and use of forest resources through CSR procurement also contributes to the prevention of global warming and preservation of biodiversity.
By implementing the Oji Paper Group Partnership Procurement Policy, the Oji Paper Group will fulfill its corporate social responsibilities by conducting all business activities in compliance with laws and consideration for the environment and society. In so doing, the Oji Paper Group will continue to strive to be worthy of the trust of its stakeholders and to improve its corporate value. |

The Oji Paper Group, in order to fulfill its social responsibilities in business when procuring raw materials, pursues CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) procurement that takes environmental and social factors into consideration in cooperation with business partners throughout its supply chain.
Our CSR procurement activities are based on principles such as the United Nations Global Compact, the Oji Paper Group Corporate Code of Conduct, and the Oji Paper Group Environmental Charter. By implementing CSR procurement, we seek to contribute to a truly enriched and sustainable society.
We continually seek to improve our CSR procurement activities by communicating closely with business partners.

This procurement policy applies to all raw materials procured by the Oji Paper Group. The procurement of wood raw materials is covered by the Wood Raw Material Procurement Guidelines which are subordinate to this procurement policy.
